Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust (CRAT)
With a CRAT you can make a generous gift to Stonehill and receive a generous return with a fixed income for life.
Charitable gifts are important tools to achieve goals in which we believe. Yet many of us believe that our current need for income means that we must delay philanthropic gifts until after death. However, with a Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust, you can make a generous gift to Stonehill now and also attain a better financial return than you can from your current assets. This is possible because an annuity trust pays you a reliable fixed income for life.
Annuity trusts work in almost the exact same way as Unitrusts -- the major difference being that an annuity trust pays a fixed income for life based on a percentage of the original principal of the trust.
The benefits to an annuity trust include:
- An annuity trust provides reliable, stable income that is not subject to market fluctuations
- An income tax deduction for a portion of the gifts value
- You can avoid capital gains tax and often avoid estate taxes
- Further the educational mission of Stonehill College
Please feel free to call us to discuss which of these options might be better for you. Stonehill suggests a minimum principal amount of $500,000 to establish your Charitable Remainder Trust.
Use our gift calculator to calculate a charitable remainder annuity trust based on your age or based on a term of years.
