Moreau Honors Program students must complete at least six honors courses before graduation. Two of these courses are taken in the first semester of the freshman year. Honor students must enroll in at least three courses for honors credit after the first semester at Stonehill. The sixth and final honors course will be the Capstone requirement for the major, taken in the senior year. In addition, all honors students will complete the Honors Leadership Seminar.
The honors grade point average (GPA) is determined prior to graduation, using only the four highest honors grades prior to the Capstone, dropping the lowest grade (of the fifth course). The Senior Capstone (the Senior Honors Experience) is counted as the final course to determine the overall honors GPA.
Honors students must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and a 3.4 in honors courses.
Moreau Honors Scholar Medallion
Students who fulfill the requirements of the Honors Program graduate from the college with the special designation "Moreau Honors Scholar" and receive a distinctive medallion at the Baccalaureate Service to emphasize this status. Graduates of the Moreau Honors Program wear the medallion over their robes at Commencement.
Graduate schools and employers are always on the lookout for exceptional candidates, those who have distinguished themselves personally and professionally. The status of Moreau Honors Scholar signals uncommon character and academic accomplishment and enhances other achievements featured on a curriculum vitae or résumé.
