Community Service & Volunteerism
Stonehill College has long recognized its responsibility to address the needs of society and has encouraged its students to develop a life-long commitment to service. It has done this through institutionally sponsored programs at the community, regional and international level and by actively supporting many types of individual volunteerism.
The Office of Community Service and Volunteerism is an embodiment of Stonehill College’s mission that service is essential to active citizenship and to creating a just and compassionate world. The College established the Office in July 2004 to strengthen the College's mission and its many service initiatives.
The Office's primary responsibilities are to:
- Act as a resource for community based learning (CBL) faculty, assisting interested faculty in developing the CBL component for their courses, coordinating the logistics with area community partners and communicating expectations with students.
- Support/counsel students in their discernment process to do post graduate service and assist them in application process.
- Belong to the Brockton’s Promise Steering Committee, as well as Chair the Opportunities to Help Others promise team
- Collaborate with all divisions of the College, as they seek to live out the College’s commitment to community service
The Office of Community Service & Volunteerism does not work directly with area community partners in advertising for student volunteers. Please contact the Campus Ministry Office if you have a need for student volunteers. The director of the Into the Streets Program will be more than happy to assist you.
