John has been the Director of Recreational Sports since 1988 and is
the first and only Director of the Sports Complex. A Certified Recreational Sports Specialist, Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and Certified Personal Trainer
and Certified Resistance Trainer, John attended the University of
Rhode Island, where he completed both his undergraduate and graduate
studies. He holds a B.A. in Communications and a M.S. in
Physical Education/Sports Administration. His primary focuses are management of the facilities, fitness
programs, the Sport Clubs program and student development.

Derek Jenesky is the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports.
Derek attended Western New England College where he graduated with a
B.A. in Communications. Derek began at Stonehill in 1999, as
Program Coordinator and became Assistant Director in
2000. His primary focuses are Intramural Sports, Sport
Clubs, and varsity Home Event personnel. He is also the Head
Coach of both the Men's and
Women's Rugby Teams, our most accomplished Club Teams.

Jose is Stonehill alumnus and has been at the College since 1986.
Starting in 1988 as a Building Manager for Rec Sports, he has now
been the Sport Clubs and Operations Coordinator since 2003. In
addition to his primary focus, Jose also assists with Intramural
Sports and facilities.

Silvina Miller is the
Recreational Sports Administrative Assistant. She has been with Stonehill College for
twenty-nine years. The last 18 of those years have been
served in the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex. Sil has years
of experience in recreation, intramurals, sport clubs, and fitness. She is a conscientious team player
in the daily operations of the Ames Complex. Also appearing in the
picture at the left, is Bill Miller, a part-time Building Manager, for many
years, here at
the SpoCo.

Heather is a 1998 graduate of Stonehill College. Under her
belt is an AFAA certificate for
Aerobics, which she has been teaching for 8 years. Her other
certifications include: Personal Trainer and Fitness Counselor, CPR
and First Aid. She runs an outstanding Aerobics program, as
well as, assisting with building management.

Student Supervisors
Student Supervisors are responsible for managing the
building, assisting with intramural sports, and overseeing the
student staff in the building. Intramural Supervisors are
responsible for specific sports, officials, and scorers working at
the sport. Supervisors make all game related decisions
including scheduling, forfeits, protests, eligibility, injuries,
etc. The Sports Complex Supervisor will oversee all Control
Desk, Fitness Center, and Weight Room workers, in addition to all
other open recreation staff. Sports Complex Supervisors will
be responsible for the knowledge and proper compliance or
implementation of communication, training sessions, emergency
procedures, conduct and attitude, on site duties and activities, and
expectations of the Directors of the Sports Complex.

Student Staff
The student staff runs the everyday operations of the
Sports Complex and therefore they must have a complete understanding
of the rules and procedures of the building. Students hold a
variety of positions ranging from control desk, fitness center, and
weight room monitor, as well as intramural scorekeeper and official.
Control Desk workers are responsible for ensuring proper
identification of every individual that enters the building, along
with aerobic class sign-ups. The Fitness Center and Weight
Room monitors must be attentive and aware of the proper use of
equipment, appropriate attire, and the safety of equipment users.
Intramural Officials are in charge of facilitating intramural
contests, and performing pre and post set-up duties.
Intramural Scorekeepers are also responsible for set-up duties,
along with recording scorecards, time, and injuries. Student
staff members will also be assigned, weekly, to varsity home
athletic events, where they will serve in a variety of positions.
