To encourage students to broaden their intellectual interests, Juniors and Seniors are permitted to employ a Pass-Fail option in one course each semester. Students who “pass” the course will receive a “P” with no grade-points figured into the cumulative average. A Failing grade “F” will be counted the same way as any other failure in the cumulative average.
The Pass-Fail option can only be used in a course which is a free elective. No course taken with the Pass/Fail Option can fulfill a General Education, Major or minor requirement.
Any student may take up to two Foreign Language course even if this exceeds the maximum number of Pass/Fail courses allowed as long as these courses are not fulfilling General Education, major or minor requirements.
A student who chooses to take a course under the Pass/Fail Option must have a minimium of 12 additional credits from course graded with standard letter grades to be considered for Dean's List.
Students must fill out the Pass-Fail Option Approval Form in the Registrar’s Office by the deadline noted on the Academic Calendar. Once the Pass-Fail option has been exercised, it cannot be retracted.
