Opening Files in Office 2016 for Mac

Office 2013 gives you multiple options for opening files. Choose the one the best fits your need.

Option 1: Open a file from your departmental fileshare

  1. Launch your Office 2016 for Mac application (Word 2016, Excel 2016 or PowerPoint 2016) and select the Open tab.
  2. Select On my Mac from the second column.
  3. In the Finder window that appears, navigate to your mapped departmental fileshare and select the folder where you want to open your file from.
  4. Select your file and click the Open button.

Option 2: Open a file from your computer

  1. Launch your Office 2016 for Mac application (Word 2016, Excel 2016 or PowerPoint 2016) and select the Open tab.
  2. Select On my Mac from the first column.
  3. In the Finder window that appears, navigate to the location on your computer where you want to open your file from.
  4. Select your file and click the Open button.

Option 3: Open a file from OneDrive for Business

  1. Launch your Office 2016 for Mac application (Word 2016, Excel 2016 or PowerPoint 2016) and select the Open tab.
  2. Select OneDrive - Stonehill College from the first column.
  3. The contents of your OneDrive will display in the second column.
  4. Navigate to your file and select the Open button.
