Instructions for Faculty to Install Office 2013

An installation package for Office 2013 has been automatically distributed to faculty windows computers.  The installation package required no intervention however, the windows computer needed to be connected to the campus network on May 7, 2015 or later to receive the package.  Follow the instructions below to start the package that will remove Office 2010 and install Office 2013.  No data files will be affected by the installation.

Note: If Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 is not available in the Software Center on the computer, please follow our instructions for Getting the Office 2013 Installation Package.

  1. Click on the Start Button and type Software Center into the Search Box.
  2. Select Software Center from the Programs list on the Start Menu.
  3. When the Software Center opens, place a check in the box next to where it says “Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013,” and then click on the INSTALL SELECTED button.
  4. You will see the STATUS field displaying the “Downloading” percentage complete.
  5. A windows command prompt window with the title C:\windows\system32\cscript.exe will display, informing you of the steps of the installation process.
    1. There is nothing you need to do at this step.
  6. The Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 window will display the installation progress bar.
  7. Then, a series of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 windows will display a series of installation progress bars.
  8. Once all of the installation progress bars have ended, check your Start Menu to confirm that Microsoft Office 2013 has been installed by navigating to All Programs > Microsoft Office 2013 and selecting one of the new Office 2013 applications that are listed.
