10 Technology Tips for Students

You're back on campus, and all of the sudden you're experiencing #techprobs #wifiprobs. We understand, and we are here to help. The IT Service Desk has compiled a list of the most common problems that students experience at the beginning of the school year.

1. I can't connect to hillspot!

The most common reason for not being able to connect to hillspot is because you either changed your password over the summer or because you need to change your password, which has expired.  You must update your password on all your devices connecting to hillspot wifi.  We have more information on steps to take after changing your password.  

2. What's device registration?

Did you just get a new phone or laptop?  You must register your new device to connect to the hillspot secure wireless network. 

3. I can't get hillspot setup to work . . .

Some students experience difficulties with hillspot setup even after changing their password. On our Knowledge Base, under "Wireless Network Access," you'll find alternative instructions for  manually connecting your device to hillspot. 

4. My account keeps locking !

Account locking happens for a couple of reasons. Three unsuccessful password attempts will temporarily lock your Stonehill account.  In this case,  unlock your account with our Password Change Service.  Account locking also occurs when old passwords are trying to connect to the secure hillspot network.  To resolve this problem, you must update your email and wireless settings with your most recent Stonehill password.

5. How do I get email on my phone?

6. I want to register my gaming devices!

7. Is there an app for eLearn?

Yes, and it rocks! Check out the all-new "Bb Student" app which is available for FREE for all Stonehill students.  The app allows for seamless, on-the-go access to your eLearn courses.  

8. Is it possible to make my profile picture appear in my Stonehill email?

9. How do I get Office installed on my personal computer?

10. How can I make myself more visible to the Stonehill community?

eLearn profiles are connected to myEdu, a site to help you publicize the skills that you develop throughout your academic career.  We encourage you to create a myEdu account so that you have complete access to special features on eLearn.  You can even create a custom profile picture to share with your professors and classmates.
