Over the past decade, the number of U.S. students studying abroad has more than doubled. At Stonehill, 40% of the Class of 2012 spent at least one semester abroad.
- Immerse yourself in another culture, perhaps another language, and improve your intercultural proficiency.
- Take courses which can be better comprehended in a particular location (e.g., art history in Florence or Irish government in Galway).
- Challenge yourself to develop leadership, adaptability, self-reliance, and critical thinking skills which will strengthen your career prospects.
- Travel extensively and cheaply during class holidays and before/after your studies.

I’m a senior Psychology major and Healthcare Administration minor. I studied at the Univ. of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia in the Fall 2012. I took courses with locals while living beachside with other study abroad students. There is no doubt that my experience was not only the highlight of my college career but of my entire life. I am happy to talk about my experience & give advice to those interested in Australia!

I am a senior English major and Communications minor, I studied at the University of Westminster in the spring 2014 semester. While abroad, I traveled to 16 countries in Europe and Asia, as well as all corners of the UK. I made friends from all over the world, stayed with locals in various cities, tried new experiences, and most importantly, learned so much about myself and what I’m capable of. I’m a senior Communication & Foreign Languages double major. Last spring, I interned and studied abroad in my favorite city on Earth, Florence, Italy. I traveled, enjoyed the Italian food, conversed with natives, and lived as an Italian! I’m a senior Sociology major, studied abroad in Stellenbosch, South Africa during the fall 2012 semester. I participated in the LSCE program which involved teaching in a primary school in Lynedoch eco-village, and taking classes at the university. I traveled throughout ZA and became more adventurous than I can believe. I am incredibly passionate about studying abroad and can’t wait to talk to those interested, especially in Africa or the Gilman International Scholarship program!

I'm a junior majoring in Foreign Languages with a minor in Secondary Education. Last year I studied abroad in Granada, Spain and had the best five months of my life. I lived with a host family, volunteered at local schools teaching English, and traveled throughout Spain and parts of Europe and Northern Africa. I loved every second of my experience abroad can't wait to talk more about experience.
