Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in serving as a H.O.P.E. student leader for the 2017-2018 academic year.  H.O.P.E. student leaders serve a year-long term. Leaders commit to meeting one-and-a-half hours per week as a leadership team in addition to weekly pre-trip and re-entry meetings with the large group.  All leaders are expected to work an additional 1.5-3 hours weekly preparing curriculum for all meetings and utilizing resources from the H.O.P.E. team.  You must have participated in at least one trip prior to serving as a leader.

The team is responsible for working with the director to oversee the 2018 H.O.P.E. Service Immersion Program, including: advertising and recruiting, pre-trip preparation, curriculum development, group fundraising activities, small group facilitation, information dissemination, facilitating and leading reflections, and group re-entry.

You should be prepared to commit at least 6 hours a week to this program before site groups are chosen and up to 8 hours per week once site groups are selected. As mentioned above, leaders are expected to engage in a variety of administrative roles to assist the program throughout the year. A leader must be flexible, willing to adapt to changing situations, and react responsibly and maturely in a variety of settings. Potential leaders should be comfortable confronting their peers and dealing with stressful and unexpected situations.

Below is the H.O.P.E. Student Leader application form – an application form with response questions and a request for a reference. All of this information is due to Campus Ministry no later than 5:00 pm Friday, March 31, 2017.

Interviews will begin on April 3, 2017, should you be selected to move further in the process.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact hope@stonehill.edu. Thank you again for your interest in serving as a H.O.P.E. Student Leader.

In Peace,
MaryAnne Cappelleri, MA
Campus Minister for Service Immersion Programs
