The Davis Educational Foundation has awarded the first installment of a 3-year, $175,000 grant to launch the Stonehill Faculty Leaders Program. This comprehensive faculty development initiative will include new instructional technology and training, semester-long teaching and learning strategy seminars for selected faculty, a mentoring program for junior faculty, and the development of a "virtual" faculty development forum.  more...

ALUMNI MINISTER ANNOUNCED

Rev. Genaro Aguilar, C.S.C. is Stonehill's new Alumni Minister, succeeding the Rev. John "Jack" McCarthy C.S.C., the College's first Alumni Minister who died in March.

Since 2001, Fr. Aguilar has been a member of the Athletics department, serving as Athletic Chaplain and Assistant to the Director of Athletics. Active in monitoring the academic and emotional well being of student-athletes, he also assisted the department with its development outreach. more...

Karen A. Talentino, Ph.D., former administrator and professor at Simmons College, is Stonehill's new dean of faculty.

Talentino served as professor, department chair, faculty dean and administrator for 25 years at Simmons. In her role as interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Professional Studies, Talentino was responsible for leading Simmons’s largest academic unit, with nearly 1300 undergraduates and more than 700 graduate students. more...

With gloves and goggles safely in place, five area high school students are spending their summer vacation days learning about volumetric flasks, chromatography, autoclaves, turbidity, eppendorfs, micropipettes, and bubble columns.

Last July, Stonehill’s campus ministry department gained a new face. Matthew Hendrick, a 2000 Notre Dame graduate, came to Stonehill as a VISTA, Volunteers In Service to America, volunteer.

TRAVIS ROY SPEAKS AT STONEHILL

Travis Roy spoke to more than 200 members of the Stonehill community on Tuesday, April 9. Roy was the keynote speaker at the Sixth Annual Student Leadership Conference.  

As a boy in Yarmouth, Maine, Roy dreamed of playing Division I college hockey. His dream was realized when he became a Boston University freshman and was a starting player on the hockey team that had just won the National Championships.   Only eleven seconds into the first shift of his first collegiate game, he crashed into the boards and shattered his fourth cervical vertebra, severely damaging his spinal cord. more...
