As an intern in the Atlantic Records division at Warner Music Group, marketing major Alex Girard ’16 recently had the opportunity to learn specifics about business operations in the music industry.
Alex monitored artist media coverage in national, regional and online media outlets, updated and maintained the Atlantic Records press site, and assisted during special events for artists. Additionally, he participated in "Marketing Madness," a program that required each team of interns to create and present a marketing campaign for an artist of their choosing, to the COO of the record company.
“There is so much that goes into putting out the music that we all listen to,” says Alex. “And it is so amazing to be a part of that process. Specifically, this internship has taught me to work in a fast-paced environment, while still being thorough in my work.”
Interning in the “Big Apple” was absolutely amazing, says Alex, “ I lived just two subway stops from my office on Broadway, and anything I could ever want is literally right outside my door.”
