Micah Christian '06 and his band Sons of Serendip will perform on the NBC show "America's Got Talent" on Tuesday, June 10th. The self-described gospel/classical/neo-soul/R&B fusion quartet hope to win the celebrity judges over with their performance and advance on in the talent competition.
“We hope our music resonates deeply with listeners, and that in some way, it helps to make their lives a little better, even if just for a moment,” said Christian, 30, a teacher at the New England School of English in Cambridge, in an interview with the Boston Globe.
While at Stonehill, Christian was a member of the all-male a cappella group, The Chieftones. Also active in many of the College's volunteer programs, he took part in H.O.P.E., Stonehill's Alternative Spring Break Program. (photo left: Christian in Honduras during a H.O.P.E. trip). At his Commencement in 2006, he gave the student address.
Since graduating from Stonehill, Christian went on to earn his master of divinity degree from Boston University where he met his band mates.
Last year, Christian and his wife, Stonehill alumna Jocelyn (Vierra) Christian '08, spend the year in Peru working with the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. The two taught English to high school students there.
