January 8, 2018

VOICE LESSONS: In an instructor development class last year, Detective Michelle Palladini ’04 was asked to present on the best teacher she ever had. Without hesitation, Palladini chose Religious Studies Professor John Lanci because, in his religious studies classes, she found her voice and a love of teaching. Find out more here.

FAITH IN SCIENCE: Whether it’s Newsweek, the New York Times or on NPR, Professor Karl Giberson uses his writing and national media platform to amplify voices of reason, which can help people make peace with religion and science. Learn about his work here.

WINTER STORM 2018: Close to 17 inches of snow fell on campus over Thursday and Friday last week resulting in the College being closed for two days. High winds and very low temperatures presented challenges with the clean-up. Check out a Snapshot of the snow here.

SAINTHOOD BOUND: Holy Cross priest, Fr. Patrick Peyton, who died in 1992 and is buried in the Congregation’s cemetery on campus, was recently declared “venerable” by Pope Francis, which brings the famed Rosary Priest a step closer to becoming a Catholic saint. See Peyton's story here.

ASIAN HISTORY: Congrats to Professor Karen Teoh on her first book Schooling Diaspora: Women, Education, and the Overseas Chinese in British Malaya and Singapore, 1850s-1960s, which has been published by Oxford University Press. Learn about the book.

TEAM CHEMISTRY: “Stonehill had everything I was looking for. I still want to compete and they are consistently a very good NCAA Division II program. They’ve got a great coaching staff and strong team chemistry. It’s also very good academically, and I still get to be close to friends and family.”
– Nick McNamee, Plymouth North’s Male Athlete of the Year on why he will enter the College as a member of the Class of 2022 in September. Learn about his decision.
