Monday Morning Update

November 13, 2017

Library Reimagined: From its meeting rooms and electronic resources to its programming and progressive leadership, the MacPháidín Library has undergone many changes aimed at becoming a high-tech 21st-century learning center catering to students who have grown up with information available at the swipe of a finger. Check out the changes here!

Sail Away: Environmental Science major Christopher Driscoll ’18 is currently on a tall ship somewhere between Woods Hole and the Caribbean conducting oceanographic research as part of the College’s SEA Semester program. Learn more about his journey here.

Giving Thanks: Our scholarship students write thank you notes to their benefactors but, if the benefactor has died, there is often no one to thank. That did not deter Celia Dolan ’19 who insisted on expressing her thanks for a scholarship, which is making her education “valuable beyond measure.” Read her letter here.

Fire Safety: In a collaboration between the Easton Fire Department and Student Government Association, five Stonehill students recently assisted fire fighters on home safety visits to senior citizens, installing smoke alarms and CO2 detectors in their homes. Click here to see them in action.

Guided Tour: Forty-six alumni and friends recently spent 10 days exploring the culture and history of Portugal through the Alumni Travel Program, which is now in its 11th year. Some also added the Azores to their itinerary. See photos of the trip here.

Patterned & Arranged: The Carole Calo Gallery's latest exhibit incorporates an explosion of prints, drawings and papercutting as well as reimagined embroidery, needlepoint, and faux animal skins. It opens today, don't miss it! Learn more about the exhibit here.

Hurling Hosts: Ahead of a match this Sunday at Fenway Park, Irish professional hurling club Tipperary GAA will spend Saturday here at the College practicing. The club should take the field for an hour at W.B. Mason Stadium starting at 1:15 p.m. and has invited the community to watch from the stands!
