With a new leader in place, the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) at Stonehill will host an open house in the Martin Institute on November 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to reintroduce itself to the College community, to local nonprofit partners and to area supporters.
At the event, Lee Farrow, the recently appointed CNM Director, will welcome representatives of regional nonprofit organizations, highlight the various services that the Center can offer to the community and outline her thoughts for the future of the Center.
“Our message is one of welcome and that the Center for Nonprofit Management is back on track after a short period of quiet. We are reaching out to reengage with our long-standing friends and collaborators as well as to other nonprofits and community groups that might benefit from the expertise and experience that we can provide. We have a solid platform from which to operate. I am eager to build on that and to make the Center for Nonprofit Management an even more effective and impactful community resource,” Farrow explained.
Farrow notes that the Center has always functioned with a strong emphasis on nonprofit management, growth and development and will continue doing so. However, going forward, its focus will also “include issues of social justice, advocacy, equity, and income inequality.
“Thinking ahead, we have ideas about new innovation projects, addressing issues of mass incarceration, prison matters, restorative justice, forgiveness, atonement, healing, advocacy and action . We will be looking at networking and capacity building for faith institutions with social justice programming as well as nonprofit certificate programs. And we hope for collaborations and collegial networking with other academic institutions with social justice centers.
At the open house, Farrow will outline the Center’s December 2015 and 2016 menu of events and calendar of topics. There will be a 30-45 minute program featuring nonprofit leaders, local advocates, students, and faculty members discussing the work they’ve been involved in with the Center and projection ideas and visions for the future.
