We have been in contact with the family of Jeffrey Cooney, Class of 2015, and now share the funeral arrangements.
The hours of Visitation for Jeffrey will be on Tuesday December 13th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Prophett-Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford Street, Bridgewater, MA. We will be providing transportation to the funeral home for students and others without transportation who wish to pay their respects.
The Mass of Resurrection will be on Wednesday December 14th at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Mary, Stonehill College. Because we expect that there will be a large number of mourners attending the funeral, we are making arrangements for alternate venues on campus where the Funeral Mass may be viewed. Burial will follow at Scotland Cemetery in Bridgewater.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, Campus Police responded to an emergency at Holy Cross Center. Jeffrey was subsequently transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A campus prayer service took place in the St. Joseph’s Chapel in Holy Cross Center on Wednesday evening.
Counseling Center, Campus Ministry, Student Affairs, and Residence Life staff have been reaching out to residents of Holy Cross Center and are available to all students, faculty, and staff in need of emotional and spiritual support.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jeffrey’s family and friends during this difficult time.
