Hometown Newspaper Coverage

Throughout the academic year, many Stonehill students receive distinctive honors and awards. In order to recognize these students for their hard work and dedication, the Office of Communications and Media Relations often distributes press releases to their hometown newspapers.

For example, press releases are often distributed for students who:

• are inducted into an honor society
• receive scholarships or fellowships
• receive awards or special distinctions
• obtain prestigious internships
• excel in athletics (Note: The Athletics Department distributes the press releases for athletic accomplishments. Submissions for athletic news will automatically be forwarded to Stonehill Athletics.)
• have written or created works that are published, exhibited or performed

Dean's List and Commencement Releases

The Office automatically distributes Dean's List and Commencement information to hometown papers. These releases are sent to two hometown newspapers, per student.  The newspapers are determined by the student's zip code. 

Therefore, students do not need to submit a form for these honors, unless:

• You do not see the announcement in your newspaper within six weeks after the semester (for which you made Dean's List) has ended, or 
• You would like it sent to a specific newspaper.
