STONEHILL'S D.C. INTERN PROGRAM HONORED

The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars recently recognized Stonehill with the 2007 Private College of the Year Award for the College’s long-time and continuing support of the Center.

In announcing the award, The Washington Center (TWC), located in the nation’s capital, lauded Program Director and Associate Professor of Political Science James Millikan for his long-time involvement in TWC’s national Liaison Advisory Board, and his service as a faculty leader for the Democratic National Convention.

“I am delighted that Stonehill has been recognized by the Washington Center as the Private College of the Year for the quality of our Washington Internship program,” noted Millikan.

“The bulk of the credit for our success goes to the hundreds of Stonehill students who have served as interns in the nation’s capital with distinction and honor,” he added.

Also acknowledged for outstanding service were Heather Heerman, director of Stonehill’s Career Services, and Benjamin Chalot, assistant director. Stonehill has been affiliated with TWC for more than 30 years.

The award was presented to the College at TWC’s annual Academic Affairs Awards Luncheon at the National Press Club in Washington. D.C. on October 15, followed by a gala event that evening.

Attending the gala event were Vice President for Advancement Francis X. Dillon ' 70 and Washington area alumni Mirsada Pasalic ’98, Joe Sarage ’08, and Catherine O’Rourke ’82. Current students and interns Julia Fantacone ’08, Courtney Fratus ’08, Diana Paris ’08, and Lindsey Stailing ’08 also attended.
