STONEHILL ALUMNI PARTICIPATE IN POPE'S FIRST U.S. VISIT

Three Stonehill alumni participated in the excitement of the first visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States.  The Pontiff's historic six-day trip included visits to Washington, D.C. and New York City.

  • Rev. Mark T. Cregan '78, C.S.C., president of the College, was one of 200 heads of Catholic colleges and universities invited to attend a private audience with Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday evening, April 17.  The Pontiff addressed the gathering at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.

  • George Milot '66, superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Fall River, was one of 195 Catholic diocesan superintendents who also attended the address at Catholic University.  Milot, a Raynham, Mass. resident, says that he is excited that His Holiness dedicated a portion of his visit to the topic of Catholic education.

  • On Sunday, April 20, Rev. Matt Williams '97  concelebrated the outdoor Papal Mass at New York's Yankee Stadium before nearly 60,000 attendees.  He  presently serves with the Office for the New Evangelization of Youth and Young Adults, Archdiocese of Boston.
