IRELAND: FULLY EXPLORED

Stonehill’s Irish Studies program presents students with a wide-ranging exploration into Ireland — as it examines the people, culture, politics, and religion of the country.

Encompassing various learning approaches – study abroad, classroom discussion, and independent study – the program offers:

  • A minor concentration that encourages students to gain a deeper cultural understanding of Ireland

  • Opportunities to study at the National University of Ireland, Galway or intern in business, government, healthcare, and other fields in Dublin

  • A variety of courses ranging from Early Christian Ireland to Irish Music to the Irish-American Experience

  • Access to the Collection of Irish Government Documents – the only comprehensive collection of government reports, parliamentary papers, debates and special studies – housed in Stonehill’s MacPháidín Library.

  • Lectures featuring speakers from Ireland and the United States, such as Irish Prime Ministers, Nobel Prize winning poets, scholars, diplomats, political figures.

  • Upcoming A Non-Poet Writing Non-Poetry in Non-Irish for a Non-People: Poems of Sean O'Riordain with Louis de Paor, Director, Center for Irish Studies, NUI Galway in the Martin Institute at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008.

  • Fine Art replica of the Book of Kells.  To view Snapshot images from the replica, visit here.
