NEW YEAR, NEW ERA

The Alumni Council recently elected new officers for 2008-2011, welcoming the youngest leadership in its history.

Succeeding Kathleen (O’Donovan) Schwartz ’86 as Council president, is Mark Mulligan ’88. A former history major, Mulligan was elected an alumni member of the Board of Fellows in 2007. He also has served on the Council’s Executive Committee as chair of its Academic Committee.

A graduate of the Columbus School of Law of The Catholic University of America, Mulligan is a member of the Boston Bar Association. He resides in Quincy, Mass., and is a criminal tax attorney with the Internal Revenue Service in Boston.

Excited about the challenge of leading the Alumni Council and working with the College to strengthen its mission, Mulligan notes that each of the Council members also believes in giving back and volunteering.

As president, explains Mulligan, “I want to assist the College to expand on an already impressive record and to find new ways in which alumni can help. As Stonehill continues to evolve, it is critical that it has leaders at the administrative, trustee, and alumni levels that can guide the College and help it meet its goals.”

Schwartz, a president of the Council for three years, now holds president emeritus status. She has a long history of service to the College, including terms as Council vice president, treasurer, and chair of its Community Affairs Committee.

Other newly-elected members are Catherine M. Campbell ’96, vice president, and Kathryn Pelletier ’04, treasurer.

Campbell, who resides in Raynham, Mass., is an application specialist at Meditech. She has served as a member of the Alumni Council and the Scholarship Selection Committee, as well as chair of the Alumni Auction Committee.

“I have greatly enjoyed my time on the Council thus far,” says Campbell, “and I am honored to continue to serve my fellow alumni.”

An internal auditor for PriceWaterhouseCooper LLP, Pelletier, the youngest of the elected members, was very involved in student life at Stonehill. Among her numerous post-graduate activities, she was an Alumni Admissions representative, a member of the Alumni Auction Committee, and a member of the Young Alumni Committee.

“I am passionate about what Stonehill is, and stands for today,” states Pelletier, “and through my involvement on campus I am able to give back to a school that gave me so much.”

The Stonehill College Alumni Council strives to represent the views and interests of the entire alumni body through the work of its various committees. In recent years, the Council has increased its outreach to include hosting numerous educational and career- related programs for the Stonehill community, and organizing several community service initiatives.
