A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS
Patrick J. Boen ’89, head baseball coach, served as emcee for “Bob Richards Night,” and Vice President for Advancement Francis X. Dillon ’70 was the featured speaker. Also giving praise to Richards was the Honorable Mark E. Lawton ’71, associate justice for the Bristol County Juvenile Court Department, Jim Fenton, of the Brockton Enterprise, and Chris White ’98. A former baseball coach at the College, Richards was sports information director during a period of great growth, especially for Stonehill Athletics, which experienced a major increase in the number of varsity teams. During his tenure, he also taught journalism, another professional passion, and served as an advisor to students, to The Summit, Stonehill’s student newspaper, and to Acres, the student yearbook. “To every game he covered, to every paper or yearbook he helped produce, to each class he taught, to every student he advised, Bob brought his big, kind heart,” noted Dillon. “He did his job well. He made great friends and he has stuck by them throughout the years. “In honoring Bob, we are in fact celebrating a great circle of Stonehill friendship, one that embraces athletes, students, administrators, alumni, professors, and people from all walks of College life. “Bob, you are our Man for All Seasons, thank you,” concluded Dillon. 01/16/08 |
