STONEHILL POLICE OFFICERS HONORED

For the second year in a row, Stonehill College police officers have been recognized for their law enforcement accomplishments by the Massachusetts Association of College Law Enforcement Administrators (MACLEA).

In December, MACLEA presented Sergeant Detective Karen Ahern of the Stonehill Police Department with its Special Recognition award.

In honoring her, the organization highlighted Ahern's investigative expertise, which resulted in the apprehension of a perpetrator responsible for a series of larcenies on campus.

Officer Richard Pucillo received this same Special Recognition award in 2006 in appreciation of his record of law enforcement professionalism while working for campus and public safety.

“These awards are reflective of our commitment to being a professional police department – one that works diligently to ensure the safety of all the members of the Stonehill community. Both Detective Ahern and Officer Pucillo are a credit to their profession and to the College,” said Roger Goode, associate vice president for operations, who oversees the department.

The Stonehill College Campus Police Department is comprised of 11 patrol officers, four sergeants, one lieutenant, and two community service officers.

A fulltime professional law enforcement department, Campus Police serves the more than 3,000 members of the Stonehill community. It not only protects their safety but also ensures the security of buildings, property and equipment on the College’s 384 acre campus.
