Work with a Librarian

For Students

Working with a librarian is an excellent way to get the assistance you need to complete your assignments.  We can help you learn skills that will save you time and effort and enable you to use your time more effectively.

Librarians are available to help you:

  • Learn about the types of resources available to you

  • Learn what types of resources are best for your particular assignment or project

  • Learn how to find and request items from other libraries

  • Use databases more skillfully

  • Understand the difference between popular, scholarly, and/or peer-reviewed publications

  • Understand how and why you must properly cite your research

There are many ways to work with a librarian, and you can choose the way that best meets your needs. You can contact the the Reference Librarians anytime the library is open. We are available:

  • In person at the Reference Desk

  • By phone at 508.565.1203

  • By text at 508.709.0223

  • By email at reference@stonehill.edu

Individual Appointments

If you have a question that requires a little more time, you can make an individual appointment with any of the Reference Librarians at a mutually convenient time. Individual appointments allow you to get assistance on longer assignments and papers from librarians who have a good perspective on how you can best accomplish your research goals.

Info Café

You can also attend research tutorials at the Info Café, where you can learn advanced research skills while earning a portion of a merit point. Sessions are available for many different tools, such as:

  • Library basics

  • Specific databases

  • Specific citation style guides

  • Advanced Google search techniques

  • And other topics

Our tutorials can also be customized to your individual needs. Check out the Info Café calendar to see the tutorials currently available, or contact a librarian to schedule a custom tutorial.
