This Stonehill Statement of Privacy applies to Stonehill's Web Sites and governs data collection and usage at all Stonehill sites and services. Please read the Stonehill Statement of Privacy below and also any supplementary information at the end of this statement for additional details about particular Stonehill sites and services that you may use. Stonehill College's Public Web Site is a general audience web site, intended for users of all ages. Personal information of all users is collected, used and disclosed as described in this Statement of Privacy. This Statement contains a section with specific details regarding personal information collected from children.
Collection of your Personal Information At some pages, Stonehill collects personal information, such as your e-mail address, name, home or work address or telephone number. Stonehill may also collect demographic information, such as your ZIP code, age, gender, preferences, and interests. Information collected by Stonehill via the web may be combined with information obtained from other services and other companies. Stonehill also collects certain information about your computer hardware and software. Use of your Personal Information Stonehill and its operational service partners collect and use your personal information to operate Stonehill's Web Site and deliver services and information. Stonehill also uses your personal information to inform you of Stonehill's offerings that you may be interest in learning more about. Stonehill does not sell, rent or lease its student, prospective student, alumni, or employee lists to third parties. Stonehill may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your personal information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. We occasionally hire other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such as handling the processing and delivery of mailings, providing support, processing transactions, or performing statistical analysis of our services. We will only provide those companies the personal information they need to deliver the service. They are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information and are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose. Stonehill does not use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations, without your explicit consent. Collection and Use of Children's Personal Information Stonehill offers a special area specifically designed for children at http://www.stonehill.edu/mackandwack/. This site does not collect information but does offer chat and bulletin board services. Children should not use these services unless supervised by a parent, guardian, or supervising adult. Please note that if you grant consent for your child to use any of the chat or message boards on any of the Stonehill Sites your child will be able to communicate with other users of all ages. Before providing consent, please be aware that such services will give your child the ability to disclose personal information (e.g. name, address, e-mail, phone numbers) on his or her own. We encourage you to talk with your children about communicating with strangers and disclosing personal information online.
Use of Cookies Stonehill occasionally uses "cookies" to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. Statement of Compliance with the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) In compliance with the EADA, Stonehill College provides information on men's and women's athletic programs, including the number of participants by gender for each varsity team, operating expenses, recruiting expenditures, athletically related student aid, and revenues. The annual report is available from the Athletics Office located in the Merkert College Center. General information regarding the College’s student financial assistance programs, tuition and fees, and refunds is available from the Student Aid and Finance Office located in the Duffy Academic Center. Statement of Compliance with the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act The Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act is a federal law that provides for the tracking of convicted, registered sex offenders enrolled as students at institutions of higher education, or working or volunteering on campus. Statement of Compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act Stonehill College complies with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. This report contains a summary of Stonehill College’s Campus Police Department’s procedures along with required crime statistics. Stonehill College is committed to assisting all members of the Stonehill community in providing for their own safety and security. The College’s annual security compliance document is available on the Stonehill College Website at http://www.stonehill.edu/police/report.pdf. If you would like to receive a booklet called “Annual Security Report” which contains this information, you can stop by the Campus Police Office located in the “Old Student Union Building” or you can request that a copy be mailed to you by calling 508-565-5555.
Cancellations Due to Inclement Weather As a residential campus, Stonehill College will hold classes and other activities whenever possible. Therefore, cancellations of classes due to inclement weather such as snow or ice will be kept to a minimum, and students should plan accordingly. Individual faculty or instructors who may have a significant commute to campus may be forced to cancel their individual classes on a particular day while all other classes are in session. If this occurs, the instructor will contact the Office of Academic Affairs (508-565-1311) so that the cancellation can be posted on the campus cable TV Channel 70. When classes are cancelled due to snow, ice, or other inclement weather conditions, information is communicated on local radio stations: BROCKTON WBET-AM 1460 WMIX-FM 106.7 WCAV-FM 97.7 BOSTON WBZ-AM 1030 WRKO-AM 680 WBMX-FM 98.5 WORCESTER WTAG-AM 580 WSRS-FM 96.1 NEW BEDFORD WNBH-AM 1340 WCTK-FM 98.1 Students may also call the College at (508) 565-1450 for a taped message or may access the College's website for cancellation information at http://axistv.stonehill.edu/public/ Students may turn to campus cable TV Channel 70 for cancellation information.
Snow Removal and Plowing To facilitate snow removal, students may be asked to move their vehicles to designated areas so that parking lots may be cleared. Adequate notice will be posted on campus cable Channel 70 and communicated via student email. Students who fail to remove their vehicles as directed may have them towed at their expense. It is the student's responsibility to monitor campus communications.
Delivery of Services Stonehill College assumes no liability for the delay or failure in providing educational or other services or facilities due to causes beyond its reasonable control. Causes include, but are not limited to: power failure, fire, strikes by College employees or others, damage by natural elements, and acts of public authorities. The College will, however, exert reasonable efforts, when it judges them to be appropriate, to provide comparable services, facilities, or performance; but its inability or failure to do so shall not subject the College to liability. Stonehill College will endeavor to make available to its students a fine education and a stimulating and congenial environment. However, the quality and rate of progress of an individual's academic career and professional advancement upon completion of a degree or program are largely dependent on his or her own abilities, commitment and effort. In many professions and occupations, there are requirements imposed by federal and state statutes and regulatory agencies for certification or entry into a particular field. These requirements may change while a student is enrolled in a program and may vary from state to state or country to country. Although the College stands ready to help its students learn about requirements and changes in them, it is the student's responsibility to initiate the inquiry. |
