Professor Richard Finnegan announced his retirement from Stonehill in 2014. After receiving his BA from Stonehill in 1964, Richard returned to the college as a member of the Political Science Department in 1968. He was the founder of the International Studies program and the Irish Studies program and served a Department Chair, Director of the Honors Program, and Dean of the Faculty.
In recognition of his teaching, scholarship, and commitment to Stonehill College, we seek to establish the
Richard B. Finnegan Professor of Political Science & International Studies.
This named professorship will fund additional professional development and research for a member of the faculty whose work in international relations and comparative politics requires foreign travel.
His influence on thousands of Stonehill student’s and the development of current programs at the College is a testament to his dedication to Stonehill.
