LEARNING OTHER CULTURES: YOUR WORLD AND BEYOND The study of foreign languages is an integral part of a liberal arts education. It gives students a means of breaking through the barrier of a single speech and culture pattern and provides an encounter with some of the world's great literatures, cultural traditions, and social models. It is also invaluable for those students seeking careers in education, international studies, psychology, health care administration, political science, communications, sociology, business and scholarly research.
Studying foreign languages and connecting
with people in their own language can help you also expand your personal
horizons. Your ability to talk to others
and gain knowledge beyond the world of English can contribute to your
community and your country.
