Jack Jackson has been a leader in formulating and executing strategic communication and public relations programs over the past two decades. Turning to client-side representation after a career as a national reporter on health and science, he transformed his role of professional journalist into that of a counselor helping organizations articulate and market complex issues or technologies.
In bringing his PR and communication experience to teaching, Jack integrates a number of instructional technologies, along with interactive and social media channels, to build a real-world foundation for his courses. He leverages breaking news and contemporary events to show students how to turn academic theory into practical skills they can apply in the workplace.
Jack has represented an array of non-profit, private and public concerns across a wide range of industry sectors, focusing most recently on clean tech, renewable and alternative energy sources. Through the agency he founded, On-Message PR, he has represented arts organizations; developers of social and collaborative Web environments; computer hardware, software and networking firms; biotech/biopharma process companies; and advanced materials manufacturers, among others.
Known for developing advanced executive coaching programs in media relations and public speaking, he has conducted positioning, messaging and training programs for businesses based in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Before transitioning to PR, Jack was a bureau reporter for United Press International, covering news in engineering, medicine and science; an editor/writer for the Harvard Medical School Health Letter; an editor and writer for the Chicago Tribune-New York Daily News Syndicate; and a medical news producer for WCVB-Channel 5, the ABC Network affiliate. A member of the Public Relations Society of America since 1997, Jack was president of the group's Boston chapter for the 2009-2010 term, a member of its leadership team since 2000 and its Ethics Officer since 2004.
