Mathcounts 2002

Congratulations to the 2002 SASSDS Math Team
4th place in the Regional Level
Did not qualify for MA State Level

The competition for 2002 was held on February 13, 2:30 PM - 7:00 PM at the McCarthy Middle School in Chelmsford. Our team came in a respectable 4th place.  The alternate team came in second place among the alternate teams.  Our main team was actually given the third place trophy in error, and then told that we were really fourth after celebrating with photos and cheers!!  We are looking forward to doing even better next year.  Congratulations to the whole team.  Individual scores will be mailed to me and passed on to each of the team members.

I am very proud of everyone and all their hard work.  The competition at the McCarthy Middle School, I learned this year,  is very strong.  The state winner has often come from this regional competition.  In light of this and the small size of our school, our performance is even more impressive.  Bob Golden and the organizers kindly provided kosher pizza for us and the Maimonides team.  Overall, it was an exciting and rewarding experience for everybody.

The members of the team this year, chosen via school wide competition were:

The team next year is open via competition to all middle schoolers.  Good luck to all.
