Classie Parker is a community leader in the Harlem Children’s Zone, Inc., and has been engaged in the work of community building through tenant organizing and developing community gardens from vacant land in Harlem, since the early 90s. Classie organized her tenant managed building in 1995, as well as transformed a vacant lot into a beautiful community garden. Her objective was to create an intergenerational project that allowed elders to share their wisdom and knowledge with young people in the community.
