American Studies
American Studies is a broad interdisciplinary major in which students develop distinctive and innovative approaches to the study of American culture. The wide range of courses from which students structure their studies enable them to pursue ideas across several disciplines and methodologies. True to the Liberal Arts tradition, students have the opportunity to draw upon the strengths of faculty in several departments. At Stonehill, the American Studies major is built upon a commitment to assist students to consider, develop and pursue their individual programs according to their interests and goals. The availability of faculty counseling is an important part of the program as students proceed in their studies. A major in American Studies is often paired with another major such as History, Education, Political Science or Communication. Graduates from this program have entered careers in museums, law, public administration, teaching, marketing and journalism. |
