Student Alumni Association (SAA): Who Are We? The Stonehill College Student Alumni Association (SAA) was founded by the Alumni Office to serve as a link between the Stonehill community and alumni. The organization keeps alumni in touch with campus life and works to make present students aware of their future roles as alumni. Members of SAA benefit by having the opportunity to meet prestigious alumni through their involvement with events sponsored by the Alumni Office and the Advancement Division. Members develop valuable leadership and communication skills and learn the importance of networking. The SAA works to "build a bridge" from students to alumni through student participation in programs and events. These events include: The New Grad Panel Alumni Career Panels Career Shadow Day Alumni Auction Reunion Weekend Alumni Weekend President's Dinner Alumni Holiday Party The SAA is continuously improving current programs and reviewing new programs and events to further its mission. The group also hosts social and educational programs. "Get Out of Debt!" Alumni Coffeehouse "Get Out of Debt!" is an interactive game-show style program aimed at educating students about proper credit card usage and debt management. The Alumni Coffeehouse series welcomes Alumni back to campus to perform and entertain students in The Hill like they once did while students themselves. This program received the 2004 Outstanding Program Award in the New England region from the Association of Student Advancement Programs. SAA members are dedicated. They must make a commitment to attend meetings, participate in SAA events, and volunteer for various activities. We are looking for people who are able to make a serious commitment, are willing to be proactive, and would enjoy an opportunity to meet and work with alumni. How often and how long are SAA meetings? Generally, meetings last about an hour. Depending on the activities being planned, the group meets weekly or biweekly. How many people are in the SAA? Membership in SAA is limited and competitive. There is a 40-student maximum. There are openings each year as seniors graduate. What's the most fun part of SAA? Getting invited to volunteer at events! In the past year, the SAA has been invited to many events where it often plays a major role. How is SAA organized? There is an executive board consisting of eight elected members. The general members are divided into three committees: public relations, career services, and programming. If you have any additional questions, please contact Peter LaBreck '96 in the Alumni Office (x1343).
