German Minor

In addition to building written and spoken language skills, the German minor explores German culture and history.

The course Germany Today, for example, uses the latest events in Germany to refine the skills related to the “5Cs” underlying the study of foreign languages:

  • Communication
  • Culture
  • Connection
  • Comparison
  • Community

Students read, view, discuss and write about reports of those events in online editions of German magazines, newspapers and videos.

Students pursuing a minor in German are encouraged to spend a semester abroad in an approved study abroad program or in one of the international internship programs sponsored by the College.
